Skistar - Safe on the slopes with remote-controlled ski lifts

Remotus - Skistar - Sälen - ctl00_cph1_image

SkiStar owns and operates the alpine destinations Sälen, Åre and Vemdalen in Sweden along with Hemsedal and Trysil in Norway. In Sälen and the Tandådalen ski area, two of their ski lifts are now equipped with remote control from Åkerströms.

Previously, the staff at Tandådalen’s ski resort handled each ski lift manually via a fixed station at each lift. Since Åkerströms equipped two of the ski lifts with remote control, one person can now handle two lifts simultaneously with a few simple keystrokes on a transmitter.

Many advantages with radio remote control
The benefits of remote control are many. You get a much better overview and are more flexible by being able to move around the ski lift area and the slopes while having complete control of the ski lift’s movements. The operator can use the device to speed up or slow down the lift. For example, the speed can be increased during the high season when the queues to the lifts are long or it can be decreased if children, elderly or disabled persons need more time to get on the lift. If an accident should happen, the staff can immediately stop the lift by pressing the emergency stop button. The radio system includes the Mercury 10B handheld transmitter and the RX160 receiver. More ski lifts with radio remote control
SkiStar is very pleased with this solution and will equip additional ski lifts with remote control in the future. SkiStar chose Åkerströms’ 10-button handheld transmitter but the Era 8B handheld transmitter also works very well for this type of application.
